Create Repeat Events by Cloning Them
April 30 2010, 6:43pm
Creating new events on FloridaCreatives.com is simple enough, but creating multiple events or monthly repeating events can be time-consuming. Instead of attempting to make automatic repeating events, there is a simple manual process which can be followed to "clone" an event, and then change a few details. Here's how:
Let's say you want to add a Florida Creatives Happy Hour for May. There is probably already a Happy Hour at the same location with many of the same details for April.
Log in to the site.
Go to a past Happy Hour's page. You can find old events by hitting the Event Calendar, or through the Communities and Meetups Directory - old events will be in the right sidebar once you find the meetup you're looking for, in this case, Orlando Happy Hour.
Hit the "Clone" link in the tabs above the event title. You will now be presented with a form that creates an exact copy of the event you were just viewing.
Change the title (it will say "Clone of Florida Creatives Happy Hour #xx") - make sure to remove the "Clone of " from the beginning.
Change the date (if a new year is starting, make sure you roll 2010 over to 2011)
The location and some body text are already set. As a rule, try to edit the descriptive text every 2 or 3 months. If a bigger event is coming up, like BarCamp, BlogOrlando, etc - try to name-check that in there.
If you are creating an RSVP page on Upcoming, Facebook or Yelp, please make sure to change the Link area.
Click "Preview" - review the event info (especially date) before hitting Save
